Relentless Light (2025)

In an era where transgender and non-binary people’s history, protections, and validity are being erased, Relentless Light captures the spirit of a community that will not be defined by others or marginalized. The work is fueled by the refusal to be erased from the American landscape. As the contributions of the transgender community are deleted from the Stonewall National Park website, and the very mention of non-binary people in literature causes their removal from libraries, we must remain a Relentless Light—a signal that we exist regardless and a beacon to galvanize our community and our allies.

Buddy and Percy at Night (2025)

Buddy and Percy at Night is a two movement work about what my cats do at night. The first movement “Buddy in Dreamland” is a lullaby painted with dreamy whole tone lines and with thoughtful consideration for his breath as he sleeps cuddled up in blankets at my feet. Conversely, his brother Percy spends much of his evening chaotically chasing his favorite spring toys around the house. This is illustrated by an F lydian scherzo movement full of percussive drum beats, wildly moving low voice lines, and a thematic lydian scale divided into couplets and dispersed across octaves to represent his vertical jumps as he pounces on his toys.

Wedding Countdown (2024)

This piece was written in one week in the month leading up to my wedding. It is about the excitement and anticipation of marrying the person I love. The thematic material is a jingle I would sing to my fiancee. The percussion feature conjures the image of dancing at the wedding and the quiet moments between wedding plans.

Becoming Myself (2024)

Becoming Myself is a musical exploration of identity and self-discovery. The piece opens with a vivid image of a giant flower in bloom, symbolizing the unfolding of self and authenticity. As the tempo quickens, it becomes a journey filled with questioning and moments of strain, finally bursting forth with revelation. The music finds renewed confidence as it continues its journey with soaring trombone solos, quotes of J.S. Bach’s G-minor fugue, a tuba solo, a stately return of a now further development of the journey theme, and culminating in a spirited groove that celebrates joy and self-acceptance. The composition then crescendos to peak polyphony, reflecting both the exhilaration and external pressures that come with redefining one's self, before returning to the image of a fully bloomed flower, representing a complete and radiant sense of self.

Standing at The Precipice (2018)

When I began composing eight years ago, I wrote a theme. I never used it, but it always stuck with me. I was saving it for just the right moment, when I knew I would have all the compositional tools I needed to really give it the treatment I felt it deserved. This theme came to personify me, and my journey to becoming a great composer. When it came time to write my masters thesis, I felt as if I were standing at the precipice, looking at the culmination of my entire journey thus far in studying composition, and it was the right time to write a work using this theme.

Fanfare For The Water (2017)

Fanfare for the water is inspired by the ocean. When composing this pieceI thought a lot about the beach in Delray Beach, Florida and about my experience being on boat during a vacation in Key West, Florida. It depicts images of the sun shimmering off gentile waves, the gentile drift of the tide, and dark depths of the open seas.

Phantasmagoria is a four movement symphony for orchestra and choir. Through each movement, the symphony illustrates an abstract dream story of: discovering and falling in love, romance and passion, longing for love when it becomes absence, the thrill of its return, concluding with the realization that it was all just a dream.
